Position Summary

The SAP ABAP Delivery Manager will provide hands on leadership in coordinating, planning, organizing, and executing the programs, projects, and day-to-day operational responsibilities in delivery of SAP ABAP services for ITT’s global enterprise.

This is a new role in the organization within the ITT’s Corporate SAP Center of Excellence (CoE), reporting to the IT Director, Business Applications.

As the SAP ABAP Delivery Manager, you will play a pivotal role in executing activities and in parallel coordinating the future if ITT’s ABAP service delivery model that is being centralized in Athens for the global ITT enterprise. This is a hybrid role where the individual will be expected to lead, design, manage and execute the service delivery model as well as being hand-on in the daily activities in conjunction with your development staff.

This person will be the coordinator of this new team and a senior developer.  For this reason he/she will be expected to have a deep technical background in the SAP development area (both ABAP and FIORI), as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to bridge the internal needs of the various internal IT organizations. This role is responsible for ensuring that their organization and IT service delivery model is effectively and efficiently supporting the day-to-day operational needs and projects, as well as envisioning, recommending, and facilitating business changes to automate, streamline and ensure a highly available service offering for our internal and external customers.

  • Capable to prioritize, plan and balance many active priorities within all VC and able to provide clear and feasible planning and due dates for each topic in his basket (and able to understand the different urgencies and criticalities).
  • Able to coordinate and execute testing in collaboration with the SAP functional teams of each VC
  • Support the SAP CoE and each Value Center in establish thoughtful plans, risk assessments, and implementation plans.
  • Able to understand the complexity of each task and identify the right person/skill to support the topic.

This individual is expected to be deeply knowledgeable in all the SAP FIORI and ABAP topics with a large amount of experience to guide their team (and potential external contractors on demand) in the maintenance activities  and new projects developments related to all the ITT SAP systems.

He/she need to be able to work with SAP Functional Analysts (internal/external) and Technical/Development teams (internal/external) to support the design, the build, and the implementation of various SAP integrated solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

Main Accountabilities

  • Act as a central point of contact for all activities requiring SAP ABAP services for the enterprise:
    • evaluate needs and provide technical options/recommendations to address the needs
    • manage the planning and prioritization of requested technical activities across Value Centers
    • define and validate priorities with peers, set and reset expectations with transparency due dates
    • understand complexity and define the right skills required to support each ticket or project
    • organize ABAP efforts to execute development activities; deliver quality functionality in a timely manner
    • coordinate the ABAP activities to support the functional team in testing phase and potential rework
    • Coordinate the ABAP Factory to support cut over, go live and post go live phases
  • Own all planning, coordination, execution, and support activities (ABAP and FIORI) for all business units across all SAP instances globally.
  • Plan and coordinate all activities for the ABAP Factory in collaboration with SAP Functional Analysts (internal/external) to support the design, the build, and implementation of various SAP integrated solutions.
  • Strong client-driven mindset and be willing to extend themselves to collaborate across teams, geographies, and time zones in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Supporting solutions around SAP ecosystems and a technology stack of SAP Enterprise Core Component (ECC), SAP HANA, Suite on HANA, Fiori etc.
  • Independently drive issue resolution coordinating with all parties as needed to drive results.
  • Provide accurate and timely estimates based on functional specifications.
  • High degree of technical skill in troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Apply best practice business processes and technical alternatives while operating in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation of SAP ABAP and FIORI developments.
  • Establish and maintain a roadmap for continuous improvement in SAP developments best practices.
  • Work on the root cause analysis and institute processes and corrective actions to prevent repetitive issues.
  • Participate in all projects related to the further adoption (site consolidation/migrations) and modernization (Suite on HANA and S/4HANA) of ITT’s strategy as it relates to our continued investment in SAP.
  • Create and maintain an on-call support model for your team; participate as needed as well as an escalation
  • Identify and execute opportunities that create operational efficiencies (automation, shift-left, etc.).
  • SAP Processes include but not limited to:
    • SD, MM, PP, WM, FICO, QM, PM, HR modules…
    • Reports
    • User exits
    • Smart forms/SAP Script
    • BAPIs / BADIs
    • FIORI
    • Interfaces management knowledgeable of the main best practices
  • Break/Fix Support – Analyze problem tickets and work collaboratively with SAP Systems Analysts and/or end users to identify source of problems, develop and test solutions and manage the releases to production.
  • Technical Specifications – prepare and communicate written technical specifications based on business requirements
  • Solution Evaluation – analyze, evaluate, and select appropriate technology to implement solutions that meet requirements
  • Development – develop source code, database, and other technical objects to create programs that meet requirements; create and maintain robust documentation aligned with best practices.
  • Testing – test all programs to ensure requirements are met
  • Performance Optimization and Security – ensure all delivered solutions meet performance and security requirements

 

Position Requirements

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Business or Computer Science); MBA a plus
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in SAP development; proven track record in large, complex organizations.
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP and FIORI development best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience within a large multi-national organization with a diverse set of personnel from multiple regions and countries.
  • Experienced in RICEF creation and quality reviews
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Confident initiative-taker who is driven and results-oriented
  • Strong client-driven mindset and be willing to extend themselves to collaborate across teams, geographies, and time zones in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Experience in migrating organizations from ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA
  • Project management skills to coordinate developments activities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong documentation skills to maintain detailed records of technical designs and testing results.
  • Must have knowledge to support different SAP releases:
  • S/4 HANA (Expert)
  • ECC 6.0 (Expert)
  • Fiori/Gateway (Expert)
  • SAP 4.0b (Proficient)
  • SAP 4.6C (Proficient)
  • Knowledge of SAP Solution Manager, ASAP methodology and SAP Best Practices are a major plus.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as a team player and can manage own workload.
  • Able to balance competing priorities for yourself and your team.
  • ITIL, Six Sigma, and PMI certification a plus
  • Travel in project based, but generally no more than 15%.
