Position Summary

The ServiceNow Developer within ITT’s Corporate IT department will own and deliver on all operational and strategic aspects of ITT’s end-user experience to enhance, automate, modernize and simplify our end user’s experience globally, through the increased and advanced use of the ServiceNow platform. This person will maintain, design, and develop enhancements to the ServiceNow platform. This position requires the candidate to collaborate with various stakeholders to understand the driving business requirements and rationale behind changes necessary to the existing and new ServiceNow modules and functionality to be deployed.  Enhancements, upgrades, platform modifications to the ServiceNow platform are entrusted to this individual and they will provide support to both to the end users and IT staff as all parties look to improve IT service offerings within the company.

 

This person will author or author the development of code, workflow, business rules, and user interface rules on any of the modules used in the ServiceNow tool by ITT. This includes but is not limited to: Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Demand, Project, or Contract. They will use industry best practices for software development, testing and maintenance.

Essential Responsibilities

General

·         Develop, customize, and maintain ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations.

·         Troubleshoot production issues in a timely and expert manner.

·         Design and architect Service Now solutions ensuring alignment with Business requirements.

·         Develop high-level and detailed architectural plans for Service Now platform including integration with other systems.

·         Proven experience in designing and implementing Service Now solutions for various modules.

·         Lead and implement the modules of Service Now Platform.

·         Lead and implement the workflow and automation on Service Now Platforms

·         Ensure platform is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.

·         Provide guidance and best practices to stakeholders on the effective use of Service Now capabilities.

·         Follow ServiceNow best practices (including scripting, security, implementation)

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

·         Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code requires expertise to achieve. Debugging and fixing technical problems

·         Understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation, and delivery of high-quality solutions to the business.

·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

·         Design, develop, test, and implement ServiceNow solutions in alignment with industry best practices.

·         Troubleshoot and resolve issues in ServiceNow applications and integrations.

·         Develop both IT facing robust automated processes to enhance operation excellence and efficiency and end user facing service catalog items and the associated workflow.

·         Responsible for Integrations with 3rd party tools, applications, and systems – both existing and new.

·         Maintain technical documentation and assist/participate in QA and user training activities.

·         Stay up to date with ServiceNow releases and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

·         Proactively make recommendations for platform improvements to UI, integrations, workflows, etc.

 

Development

·         This position will heavily involve developing additional functionality/modules yet to be implemented by our company. This will include customizing ServiceNow using UI Pages, UI Macro, CMS, Java, and HTML.

·         Responsible for following industry best practices in the software life cycle. Understands technical and functional design requirements related to the ServiceNow platform. Can program in an object oriented modular format to ensure future expandability of the applications, service catalog items and associated workflow.

·         Candidate must be able to accept requests for enhancements and be able to apply basic PMI methodologies to determine all project tasks involved in the implementation of those enhancements. This includes information gathering in defining scope of deliverables and understanding development time needed to complete the enhancement.

·         All completed enhancements will follow standard practices for implementing change control within ITT gaining the appropriate approvals before deployment of any enhancement. Appropriate documentation is also created for the ‘operation’ of any modules created. This includes both end user facing documentation and IT documentation on the processes and procedures related.

 

 

Position Requirements

·         College degree in computer science, information sciences or related field

·         Minimum of 5 years working in an IT environment.

·         Minimum of 2 years development work with ServiceNow.

·         Minimum 2 years Developer experience in JavaScript, HTML, XML, and RESTful APIs

·         Fundamental understanding of ITSM, ITIL or CMDB workflows.

·         Proficiency with ServiceNow development, such as scripting, workflows, and integrations.

·         Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities.

·         Good Communication and presentation skills

·         Certifications (preferred):

o    ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator

o    ServiceNow Certified Application Developer

o    ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist

 

·         Excellent written and verbal skills. Must be able to communicate well with all areas of the business and technical expertise levels, proficiently in English.

·         Ability to talk to technical ideas in a manner appropriate to varying end user competency.

·         Understanding of their own role in contributing to the organization’s goals and objectives.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with very keen attention to detail.

·         Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.

·         Can think outside the box and come up with innovative ways to solve problems presented.

·         Thinks analytically for long term success.

·         Ability to think outside the box and find solutions for complex business workflows

·         Ability to be on-call as needed

·         Sitting at a PC for extended periods of time.

·         Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, etc.

·         Additional working hours as required.

·         Some travel may be required.
