Position Summary

ITT Goulds Pumps has an opening for a General Laborer in Seneca Falls, NY. The General Laborer will perform a variety of duties throughout the departments of Receiving, Shipping, Stockroom, or other work as assigned. This is a second shift position and the hours are 3:30pm-12:00am.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Follow relevant work instructions and/or SOP.
  • May be required to operate industrial trucks (fork trucks, lift trucks, etc.)
  • Examine product for wear or defects, and compare with records such as invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies.  Report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Prepare documents such as packing lists, work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Use general carpentry tools such as hammer, power drill, and power saw to build crates or boxes used to ship pumps and parts. May make skids
  • Identify controlled materials, such as titanium, fiber glass, for overseas shipments; label as export controlled.
  • May use crane to hang parts and/or more parts along roller systems.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, stock rooms, or other areas.
  • Receive and count stock items, record data manually or using computer.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • May train new employees.
  • Other Miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • previous experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment performing manual labor is preferred
  • Maximum lifting requirement is 40 lbs
  • Must wear required safety equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, etc.
