Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Product Design Engineer to provide support for KONI’s shock absorber products. In this role, you will be responsible for new product development for Shock absorber, hydropneumatics suspension in the different field of application of KONI products. Our focus fields are Railway, Car, Defense, Bus and Trucks , working closely with customers to select, design, and customize shock absorber solutions that meet their specific needs.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background and proven experience in creating detailed technical drawings, working with ERP and PDM systems, using SolidWorks for design and documentation, designing and developing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components for automotive and/or agricultural applications.

This position requires excellent communication skills, as you will be collaborating with both suppliers and customers. Knowledge of automotive standards is highly preferred. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for the automotive industry—someone who is motivated, resilient, and eager to learn and grow within our organization. 

 

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Concept, Feasibility and Design of new products or new range of products working in Team with Application Engineering, Quality and Industrial Engineering.
  • Realization of 3D model, 2D drawings, and BOM of new Prototypes and Products
  • Follow up proto realization and testing
  • Follow up NPD project using toll gate system assuring that all deliverable are met in time and with the right level of quality
  • Assure that all the developed products are designed with a strong “Design to manufacturing” and “Design to cost” mindset.
  • Lead strong DFMEA approach to design
  • Be responsible for internal norm regarding design, materials, welding, etc
  • Scout and promote innovation projects
  • Together with R&D director define Product evolution roadmap based on market and management inputs
  • Promote standardization of components. Materials, tolerance across different range of products
  • Promote and carry on VAVE ideas

Position Requirements

You have a Bachelor or Master Degree an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Aeronautic, Automotive)  with about 5-7 years of experience in a comparable role. Preferably knowledge of designing Shock absorbers, Hydraulic valves, Hydraulic systems, Suspension systems. 

Qualifications/ Requirements/ Characteristics:

    • Knowledge of principles and design of Hydraulic Shock Absorbers; Hydropneumatics suspension or similar products.
    • Knowledge of design of hydraulic system and components like valve
    • General mechanical design, GD&T
    • 3D Solidworks, Pro –E proficiency
    • Experience in new product development and/or innovation projects
    • Matlab/Simulink proficiency
    • Control system and electronic piloting systems
    • FEA analysis for structure and hydraulic would-be a plus
    • Signal/data analysis
    • DOE and Testing methods know how
