Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Application Engineer to provide support for KONI’s shock absorber products. In this role, you will be responsible for developing applications for both the automotive and defense markets, working closely with customers to select, design, and customize shock absorber solutions that meet their specific needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background and proven experience in creating detailed technical drawings, working with ERP and PDM systems, using SolidWorks for design and documentation, designing and developing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components for automotive and/or agricultural applications.

This position requires excellent communication skills, as you will be collaborating with both suppliers and customers. Knowledge of automotive standards is highly preferred. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with a passion for the automotive industry—someone who is motivated, resilient, and eager to learn and grow within our organization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between external customers and the KONI sales team, ensuring clear communication and seamless project coordination.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions by creating, designing, and developing 2D drawings and 3D models for customers and suppliers.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and alignment with engineering and production standards.
  • Prepare technical proposals, datasheets, and compliance documentation, and ensure all work aligns with IATF quality system requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D and manufacturing teams to support product customization, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers and partners, both on-site and remotely as required. Occasional supplier visits may be necessary.
  • Stay current with industry standards, competitor technologies, and new developments to support innovation and maintain KONI’s leadership position.

Position Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in application engineering or technical support, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a global supplier and customer environment.
  • MBO qualification or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD; experience with FEA tools is considered a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of automotive standards, specifications, and documentation practices.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem- solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer or supplier sites, as well as attend industry events when required.
