Position Summary

VIDAR Motors is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) to lead supplier quality performance and capability development across its global supply base. This role serves as the primary interface between VIDAR and its suppliers, ensuring alignment on quality standards, inspection reporting, and delivery performance.
The SDE will drive consistency in inspection data, documentation quality, and corrective action execution, while supporting resolution of supplier-related nonconformances and warranty issues. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all supplied components meet VIDAR expectations for reliability, traceability, and conformance, particularly within electromechanical and power electronic systems.

Essential Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management:
• Own supplier quality performance, including quality metrics, delivery performance, and responsiveness.
• Lead and manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for supplier nonconformances, ensuring effective root cause identification and permanent resolution.
• Support investigation and resolution of supplier-related warranty claims, driving accountability and systemic improvement at the supplier level.
Inspection & Documentation Oversight:
• Review, validate, and disposition supplier-provided inspection reports, test data, and certifications to ensure compliance with VIDAR requirements.
• Define and enforce expectations for supplier inspection documentation, including dimensional results, electrical test reports, and material certifications.
• Ensure documentation completeness, accuracy, and consistency prior to product release.
• Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
Supplier Development & Auditing:
• Develop and implement supplier improvement plans focused on quality performance, inspection rigor, and process capability.
• Conduct supplier audits to assess process controls, inspection methods, and quality system effectiveness.
• Partner with suppliers to improve measurement systems, reporting clarity, and process repeatability.

Technical Coordination:
• Collaborate with internal engineering and sourcing teams to ensure suppliers fully understand technical requirements, drawings, and acceptance criteria.
• Assess supplier capability for electronic assemblies, PCB-based systems, and electromechanical components.
• Support new or revised component introduction by verifying supplier readiness in inspection, validation, and documentation processes.
Supply Chain Coordination:
• Work closely with procurement to align supplier performance with business needs, including on-time delivery, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as an escalation point for supplier quality issues and drive timely closure.

Position Requirements

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or supplier development within industrial, electronics, or electromechanical industries.
• Strong experience reviewing and interpreting inspection reports, electrical test data, and technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience with power electronics or electronic systems.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and supplier audit practices.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings (GD&T) and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis, corrective action systems, and warranty-related investigations.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data validation and documentation review.
• Experience with electric motors or rotating equipment is a plus but not required.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across global suppliers and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel as required to support supplier engagement and audits.
